Today I completed the first #NoOfficeDay in my 6 year career as lead learner at Knapp. Inspired by respective (and linked) posts of principal pals Lyn Hilt, Jessica Johnson, David Truss, Justin Baeder, Dwight Carter, Shira Leibowitz and William King and IL Teacher of the Year Josh Stumpenhorst, I wiped the schedule I had for the day clean and focused on taking the pulse of our entire school. It felt so great to escape the office and I’d like to share my learning with you as I did with my own parent community on Twitter at @KnappElementary and Facebook at Facebook.com/knappelementary.
I’m also sharing the stream with all staff at the school as part of our ongoing staff culture building. Sometimes staff members at our schools only get to see what is happening in their own classrooms. Would you like to have this “window into your child’s school” at your child’s school? As a teacher would you appreciate seeing the work of your colleagues and what classrooms ahead and behind your grade level are doing? Picture a transparent, connected learning environment at your own school.
