International anti-bullying speaker John Halligan will hold three presentations of “Bullying, Cyberbullying and Youth Depression” for students, families and community members of my school district on Monday, February 13th.
Halligan’s 13-year-old son died by suicide in 2003 after being bullied by classmates at school and online. Halligan’s presentation will cover the lessons learned too late for his family regarding how to deal with bullying, cyberbulling and teen depression.
Two presentations will take place during the day for the middle school student body, with one evening presentation that will take place from 7-8:30PM EST open to all school families and community members. I will be tweeting out quotes from Mr. Halligan during the course of the evening presentation to parents and teachers using the #PTchat hashtag. I’ve heard John speak before to students and parents. His message is powerful and his suggestions to all of us must be taken seriously if we are to eliminate bullying from schools. His resourceful website can be found here. Join #PTchat on Monday night 2/13 at 7PM EST.
John Halligan’s visit is made possible thanks to a grant from our school district’s educational foundation.
