Without a doubt, students, staff & families are going to come in Monday morning talking about the events that occurred in Newtown, Connecticut. Feel free to use this letter with your own school and perspective in mind to identify what steps you might take in proactive school safety initiatives. Embedded within the letter are efforts of one of my favorite parenting experts Dr. @MicheleBorba, as she provided some great 140 character advice for families around the world dealing with this tragedy in their own way. All of our schools are different, and it is very important to now re-invest our home-school lenses on where the strengths and challenges are when it comes to school safety. Open up multiple lines of communication. Build the opportunity for ongoing face to face dialogue. Our families need us now more than ever.
