A School Improvement Team should be comprised of leaders on your staff. Think beyond the formal or recognized leadership 'positions', department chair for example, to the teacher who leads the way in technology or reaching all students. Make the group a manageable size so that everyone's voice can be heard and the dialogue engaging. A group of 6-10 is great. However, if there is that one more person that would bring something terrific to your group do not let the number keep you from inviting them. Be deliberate in the selection of your team. The group should include people with different talents (a data person, a techie, a co-curricular leader, etc.). Balance new and veteran members so that both can learn from each other's experience. |
